Summary
Garden City Groundskeeping is seeking a dependable Landscape Maintenance Crew Lead to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in their work, leads by example, and maintains high standards across our properties.
As a Crew Lead, you will guide your team in the field each day, ensuring work is completed safely,
efficiently, and to company expectations. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and comfortable
managing a crew while maintaining strong communication with supervisors and clients.
Responsibilities
Lead a landscape maintenance crew and oversee daily jobsite operations
- Assign tasks, set work pace, and ensure properties are completed efficiently
- Maintain high standards for mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, bed maintenance, and seasonal cleanups
- Train and support crew members on proper techniques and equipment use
- Perform on-site quality checks and address issues before leaving each property
- Enforce safe work practices, PPE use, and proper equipment operation
- Maintain clean, organized trucks, trailers, and tools
- Communicate with supervisors regarding job progress, site concerns, and material needs
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for basic client questions when required
- Assist with winter operations including snow clearing when applicable
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of landscape maintenance experience (crew lead or foreman experience an asset)
- Strong knowledge of mowing, trimming/edging, pruning basics, and seasonal maintenance
- Ability to safely operate common landscape equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work throughout the day
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to lead by example
